“It is best for us to be humbled under the mighty hand of God; for
we know how fierce and haughty minded we are by nature, so that it is
necessary for us that God keep us under His schooling, and so have us in
awe. Therefore David saith, is Psalm 119:67: “Before I was afflicted I
went astray: but now I have kept Thy word”; and in verse 71: “It is good
for me that I have been afflicted, that I might learn Thy statutes.”

Old Paths In Portrait
“God is not negligent of the world that He has made. He has
made it for His use and, therefore, doubtless He uses it, which implies that He
takes care of it and orders it and governs it, that it may be directed to the
ends for which He has made it.”

Mission Africa Update September 22, 2018
We are experiencing
problems with our website hosting and the website is not viewable or editable
in Uganda because of security issues; it seems the host sees it best to block
access to their sites in Uganda and that this will be a permanent situation. We
are safe and there is no threat towards us. For now you can see our
communications online at: https://missionafricajk.blogspot.ug/. Thanks for your patience and as always we
need and appreciate your prayers! Outside of Uganda see our website at: www.missionafricajk.net.

A Prayer To The God Of My Life
“He overlaid the inside with pure gold.” 2 Chronicles 3:4 NKJV
Father of all glory, highest, truest and purest praise and
honor is Your rightful due! If all the gold in the world was found and given to
You for Your honor, if it was set apart only for You, this would be a poor
tribute, an unworthy offering, for You are the true, living and holy God, the
maker of all things, and by nature all honor and glory is Yours alone. Glory
can only proceed from You, never from the creature. And all glory is Yours. Yet
golden praise and glory, resplendent blessing and exaltation, the giving of the
costliest treasure is Yours—and should be. Solomon lined the inside of Your
house with gold to honor Your name. Your name alone is honorable, O God of creation,
giver and sustainer of life and all things. Wonderfully You are exalted in Your
glory. You are perfectly satisfied in Your own glorious being and darkness
cannot apprehend Your light. Light shines forth from You. All glory to You,
Father of lights! And Your light shines forth and is never and cannot be
darkened. Glory to the holy, holy, holy Lord—God of power and might, Hosanna!
Jesus Christ, our God and Savior, You are golden in all that You are! Blessed
Lord and Master we praise You and offer to You that which we can give for Your
glory. But Your worth is infinite. O God the Son, shine forth Your light and
fill the nations with Your truth.
Shine forth blessed, ever blessed, only
blessed, Lord Jesus and have Your glory in every nation, tribe, tongue and
people! Shine forth Your grace and reveal Yourself to the unreached that You
are their God and by Your word and Spirit bring them to worship You. Shine
forth Your gospel into darkened Somalia and plant Your church there; build
indigenous churches among the peoples for Your praise, Lord. Rule in these
nations, God who is light. Arise, shine, may their light come for Your glory,
Lord Jesus, is risen upon them! Shine, blessed Holy Spirit, shine the light of
Christ upon these and all peoples and bring exaltation to the Son and through
Him to the Father. Lord, You are the light of the Eternal City. You are the
Dayspring from on high and the Eternal Day! Bring Your elect sons and
daughters, call them from afar into Your marvelous light. Light of the World, shine
on the nations. Shine on us. You are Lord! You are Lord! You have risen from
the dead and You are Lord! Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess that
Jesus Christ is Lord! Praise You, Lord, that the holy angels and Your perfected
people offer to You perfect and unceasing praise and that each utterance is
only the beginning of yet another utterance for Your praise cannot be
culminated or consummated. Praise must lead to praise to yet greater praise,
then greater, redounding to Your glory! Infinite God, You are able to receive
never ending praise that must glorify You and that by its nature, increasingly!
Forever Your praise will ascend to You and only increase! Blessed Lord, all
praise to You now and forever! In Jesus’ name, amen.

"I will also leave in the midst of thee an
afflicted and poor people, and they shall trust in the Name of the
LORD" (Zephaniah 3:12).
“When true religion is ready to die out among the wealthy it finds a home among the poor of this world, rich in faith. The LORD has even now His faithful remnant. Am I one of them?
Perhaps it is because men are afflicted and poor that they learn to trust in the name of the LORD. He that hath no money must try what he can do on trust. He whose own name is good for nothing in his own esteem, acts wisely to rest in another name, even that best of names, the name of Jehovah. God wilt always have a trusting people, and these will be an afflicted and poor people. Little as the world thinks of them, their being left in the midst of a nation is the channel of untold blessings to it. Here we have the conserving salt which keeps in check the corruption which is in the world through lust.
Again the question comes home to each one of us. Am I one of them? Am I afflicted by the sin within me and around me? Am I poor in spirit, poor spiritually in my own judgment? Do I trust in the LORD? This is the main business. Jesus reveals the name, the character, the person of God; am I trusting in Him? If so, I am left in this world for a purpose. LORD, help me to fulfill it.”
