Ocotber 2018 Mission Africa Prayer Letter

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16 NKJV

Friends: Greetings to you all in the Lord’s love, grace and peace once again this month! Because of the precious truth of John 3:16 we are able to bring God’s Good News of salvation from sins and the gift of eternal life to our friends here in Africa and beyond Africa! In the Lord’s plan Jim travels to Pakistan this month to minister with John Feroze Masih, Senior Pastor of Christ King Gospel Ministries (CKGM) in Pakistan. John is pictured at the left in the top photo. Jim will evangelize, disciple, teach pastors and their wives, teach about church planting and encourage—we are excited about this work!
Pray with us please: “Shine forth blessed, ever blessed, only blessed, Lord Jesus and have Your glory in every nation, tribe, tongue and people! Shine forth Your grace and reveal Yourself to the unreached that You are their God and by Your word and Spirit bring them to worship You. Shine forth Your gospel into darkened Somalia and enlighten Pakistan and plant and build Your church in these nations; raise up indigenous churches among the peoples for Your praise, Lord. Rule in these nations, God who is light. Arise, shine, may their light come for Your glory, Lord Jesus, is risen upon them! Shine, blessed Holy Spirit, shine the light of Christ upon these and all peoples and bring exaltation to the Son and through Him to the Father. Lord, You are the light of the Eternal City. You are the Dayspring from on high and the Eternal Day! Bring Your elect sons and daughters, call them from afar into Your marvelous light. Light of the World, shine on the nations. Shine on us. You are Lord! You are Lord! You have risen from the dead and You are Lord! Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord! Forever Your praise will ascend to You, Blessed Lord, all praise to You now and forever! In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
We are also blessed and excited that since 2016 the Lord in His mercy has reconciled 300 street kids home with their families, some of these in Rwanda. Pictured above is Pastor Sunday Kafeero, our Street Kid Outreach Leader, and boy # 300 who this week went back home to Busoga—sharing an ‘A-OK’ sign. How good the Lord has been to us to bless us so and we appreciate His blessing to us of your friendship and fellowship in the Gospel! May our faithful Lord Jesus Christ bless you and yours today in an abundance of grace and love! Thank you friends!

“His one true love was always the person of Jesus.
The risen Christ was the fixed star of his life’s voyage, the sole object of his affections.”
Stephen Mansfield about George Whitefield (1714-1770)

KAPPY’S CORNER—As One
A few days ago the power went out in the morning. That isn’t unusual. We wondered what the reason was this time and when the power would return. The answer soon came when I heard men I couldn’t see shouting in a language I couldn’t understand and, although that’s also not unusual with a construction site next door, the shouting was more like a song. One man would shout something and a group of men would answer in unison like a choir. Harriet was with me at the kitchen door explaining what the men were shouting in Swahili. “Be strong and pull!” “Pull!” Before too long the top of a power pole came into view over the high wall on our west side. The pole was thick and heavy. There was no machine to hoist it into position. At one point the pole swayed just a little in our direction and I realized if they lost control of it, it could fall and break our wall or fall and injure someone, and I prayed that they would keep control. I watched fascinated as, with each command and each response, the pole gradually came perfectly upright and dropped into the hole that had been dug for it. It was all done in a skilled, coordinated way with cables, by manpower, each member of the team doing his part and following the direction of the leader. Harriet said, “The church should work that way.”

I prayed some time ago that the Lord would provide opportunities here at home to lead souls to Christ. Since then, He has faithfully answered that prayer. One of those opportunities came after the power pole was solidly in the ground and all but the man on the new pole waiting to make the connection came into our compound. One man climbed our pole to finish the connection and the rest sat down to wait. A short time later I heard Harriet’s voice and knew she was witnessing to them. I prayed they would take her seriously and listen to her and that the Holy Spirit would do the work. She told me later, the Lord answered that prayer. Jim came home and distributed gospel tracts to them. And before the crew left, I heard one man ask for a Bible. He left with a new Luganda Bible in his hand. May the Lord truly save those men.

We praise God we are here at this time in the strength of the Holy Spirit to do His work. We thank the Body of Christ worldwide who pull with us in partnership using your God-given gifts, praying, providing Bibles and literature, to make that possible. We are grateful. We are all working together as a team for the furtherance of the Kingdom—for the glory of God. God bless you!

For our Lord Jesus and His people,
Jim and Kappy
